“To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other.” ~ Carlos Castaneda

The above series of figure drawings were drawn from a single model who would repose himself every two minutes.  He reposed 9 times and then I took 7 additional minutes at the end of the session to wrap up the drawing.

I kept close watch on the time to see what I could accomplish in a short interval.  It requires a different state of mind to draw from life quickly.  You have to draw the most essential things without noodling around which I often do on some tiny detail that in the end didn’t really matter.  Of course, I could always put a piece of tracing paper over this and bang it out slick, but all in all this was a fun and gratifying excercise nonetheless.
