“Hot damn! I’ve never rode in a convertible before.” ~ The Hitchhiker in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
And so my gonzo-styled universe began with a hitchhiker…
After a ton of sketching of various possible looks for the hitchhiker, I am showing off one of the possible configurations for the hitchhiker’s character design. The character is a mutant: a bit mousy with four arms.
A drifter in the post-apocalyptic wasteland, the hitchhiker has made his way from the remnants of Disneyland. My twist on the basic premise of Fear and Loathing is to imagine and realize what the American dream might look like gonzo-envisioned in the post-apocalyptic world.
I am still closing in on the finalized character design, but I fell some real direction starting to emerge. We’ll see where things lead.
