Independence Day has arrived and it seemed like a good occasion to dust off an old sketch, “Dead Presidents, Dead Patriots.” I really don’t have any idea what the composition of my audience is in terms of nationality, but the principles of independence resonate with everybody.
I looked up some fireworks videos to commemorate one more Fourth of July. I first came across a really cool Animal Collective music video with a cool fireworks light show and nice musical vibe.
Now on to something more fun and whimsical, we have a stop motion animation of some emulated fireworks.
And now for the grand finale…

Nice portraits but you got Ben Franklin wrong. He looks soulful, when in fact he was the first party animal. He retired with a fortune in his early forties, spent the rest of his life inventing and seducing young women. Hue Hefner had nothing on Ben Franklin.
I don’t think Jay as going for something historically accurate per say. If I remember his “Dead Presidents, Dead Patriots” post correctly he was kind of creating his own story and character for these presidents. Franklin was supposed to be the mentor of Lincoln who was the hero.
Anyway, you will get no argument from me that the historical Ben Franklin was a total stud.
So what if he did young women and had a lot of money… he deserved too. Hue Hefner didn’t help mold the country.
I like them all, who knows what they were thinking at any given time, we can all be soulful at one point and time.
I love these portraits!
