Jack and the Shaman

“Stand still. The trees ahead and bush beside you are not lost.” ~ Albert Einstein

Jack while running away from home gets lost going down a river.   He is stuck in a swamp and follows a mysterious trail of candlelight to a shaman.  The shaman reveals that Jack is being stalked and hunted by a witch who collects power by stealing souls.  The shaman offers his help and guidance, but Jack is wary of the offer.

Below are some of the process thumbnail sketches that I made while composing this layout sketch (a larger view awaits those who click):

Yay! Welcom back, Jay! Good to see some new sketchity goodness. Hope your feeling better.

Awesome! I love the way you taper things to a point, like the boy’s legs. This drawing could be frightening if done differently, but instead conveys a sort of innocence and safety. I hope you are illustrating children’s books as well as other things, that isn’t easy to do!

Love the little boys eyes, looking in wonderment of what’s happening, should he or should he not trust what’s in front of him.

Glad to see you back at it!!

Will you still want to know me when you are very rich and very famous off your artwork? I am not kidding. Do you write stores to go with these?
